Dr. Stuart Perlman Discusses "Facing Homelessness" with KidUnity
Dr Stuart Perlman, a local psychologist who paints portraits of homeless people at Venice Beach, discussed his work with KidUnity. Perlman's work has been displayed in museums and he has produced a documentary - Struggles in Paradise - based on his work. Perlman emphasized his desire to dignify the homeless, and capture their pain and struggles. Dr. Perlman reminded us that these individuals, too, are to be valued: "If we can see into their faces and learn their stories -- their hopes, dreams, accomplishments and fears -- we can no longer pretend that they don't exist...we can no longer look the other way."
