Hunger Brigade: Friends and Family Guest Chef Program at The People Concern (formerly OPCC)

KidUnity invites you to gather up friends and family memebrs to be guest chefs at the OPCC Homeless Shelter in Santa Monica. We will assist you in building a team of chefs, selecting a menu, and preparing and serving a dinner to the clients of The People Concern in Santa Monica

  • KidUnity will prepare your team for this fun and impactful visit by providing a brief overview of the issue of homelessness in our community and the services that OPCC provides.

  • KidUnity will assist your team as it prepares and serves dinner for the clients.

  • KidUnity will send you home with ideas about how you can help combat the homeless crisis in our community. (KidUnity co-dircetor David Snow was the Executve Director at the Upward Bound House homeless shelter for seven years and KidUnity Teaching Assistant Tracy Chin works as a nurse at OPCC).

The Hunger Brigade is best suited for kids who are in fourth grade and above. The ideal team size is between six and fourteen (depending on the child/adult ratio). The only cost is that of groceries (a typical meal for 45 clients will cost $110-160).
